Carissa Meets her “Idol”

cimg0669crop2.jpgRecently a very special young lady from Plant City, FL got to meet her idol, former American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson. Carissa’s mother contacted Kids Wish Network to see if we could help fulfill her daughter’s number one wish. Carissa, who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, has severe mobility limitations, wears leg braces and sometimes uses a wheelchair, did not hesitate to give her number one wish which was to meet Kelly Clarkson and attend one of her concerts. We got on the phone with Kelly’s executive assistant and in no time she arranged for us to have tickets to Kelly’s show at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL. so I got to work planning a fun weekend getaway for Carissa and her family.

Carissa and family arrived in Tampa the night before the Kelly Clarkson show, waiting for them was a suite for the weekend at the Holiday Inn Rocky Point. That night they were treated to dinner at Landry’s Seafood House. On the big day, Carissa got up early and went for a spa treatment at Cassandras Salon & Day Spa in Tampa, where she was treated to a manicure, massage, facial and had her hair and makeup done. After the makeover was complete, Paradise Limo’s came to take her and her family to dine at PF Changs China Bistro, whisking her away to Kelly’s performance directly afterwards.

After an awesome show, Kelly came backstage for the meet ‘n’ greet. Carissa was overwhelmed at first but warmed up to Kelly very quickly. Kelly and Carissa chatted for a few minutes, and took some pictures. At the end of it all Carissa told me “this was the best day of my life”. I truly enjoyed being able to help her have the best day of her life so far!!
